Brydon was called to work with the youth in our stake and help plan a trip for all youth 14-18 years old to Nauvoo, Illinois. He was able to take 106 people on an amazing trip through church historical sites the last week in June. Brydon has a special love for Nauvoo and loves the youth so they couldn't have chosen a better person to help plan this trip.
Liberty Jail, Missouri
Joseph Smith was held here for 5 months awaiting trial. Although the conditions were horrible some amazing experiences came from his time there.
Steps of the Nauvoo Temple
They were able to perform baptisms and confirmations for 400 people.
Nauvoo is filled with talented entertainment and fun and inspiring shows!
One of the highlights of Nauvoo was the Trail of Hope.
This the trail that the Mormon pioneers walked as they were being kicked out of Nauvoo. They had to leave their homes, gather supplies, and head out into the frozen Missouri River. As they walked they could look back and see the temple burning on the hill. The trail shares parts of pioneer journals and had actors who would retell the stories of the hope that the pioneers felt as they headed out with faith to Utah.
Part of their trip included in a short Trek experience. They took the youth out with loaded handcarts and had them walk in families for 3 miles. They had to work together to pull the carts and got to see what it would have been like to haul a wagon across the United States.
Carthage Jail is the place where Joseph Smith was martyred on June 27, 1844. The group was able to visit Carthage on the anniversary of the Martyrdom and attend a special ceremony. This is a special place to visit
The Nauvoo Temple
The trip was wonderful and was even featured in a few of the local newspapers. This is an event that the Stake is hoping to do every 4 years so that the younger youth would be able to have such a neat testimony building experience. I know Brydon loved taking the youth here and the team of people that helped make this trip possible were the best. I am so glad the youth were able to have this experience and that Brydon could be a part of it.
What an amazing experience!!
