Heading East River

After spending a week with Brydon's family, it was time to head East River to spend a week with my family.  It is a 5 hour drive across the state but there are a couple fun tourist spots along the way!

Wall Drug
Wall Drug has got to be the most famous Drug store ever!  There are signs all over the state about Wall Drug.  I had been a few times but we had never taken Caleb so we decided to stop for lunch there.
So many random things at Wall Drug!
Check out the terrifying T-Rex!  It actually scared Caleb pretty good and is quite well done.  I had to get a video of it.
Wall Drug was a failing business, until the owner's wife came up with the idea of free ice water.  The signs were posted on the interstate and from that day on there have always been customers at Wall Drug.  We had to try out the free ice water.

Badlands
Brydon has wanted to visit the Badlands since we were married but we never took the time to visit.  This time we took the small detour to visit park.
A beautiful anomaly in the middle of South Dakota.  In the middle of lush pasture is this amazing land form.  The earth just goes dead.
Love these boys too death!  Caleb is getting good at taking pictures for us!
If you look closely at the pictures above you can see the desert sheep.  They blend in really well, but are there.
Everyone was letting their children climb all over these formations and enjoy the beautiful day.  Caleb loved getting high up and working on stressing out his mom.  Of course we saw the sign later that asked you to stay on the path and now climb on the rocks.  Oops!  So much for respecting nature.
Many fossils have been found in the Badlands.
He sure is a cute climber though!
Lush pasture and then Badlands.
I just can't help but picture the shock on some poor pioneer back in the day!
Nature is beautiful in so many different forms!
It was a great little detour on way to the other side of the state!
