This year for
Christmas we began a popular, new tradition. I had never heard of it before but was excited when I saw the cute "Elf on the Shelf" box and could read about it. It is an adorable tradition! Whoever thought of the idea was genius and we had a lot of fun with our ELF.
Caleb named our Elf, Barky. Naming the Elf gives him magic. He needs this magic to fly to the North Pole each night and report on the good and bad behaviors of our family. If you touch the Elf he loses his magic, but you can talk to him and tell him all your Christmas hopes and wishes.
Each morning Barky, would come back from the North Pole and would find a new location to sit and watch our family. Every morning Caleb would run downstairs to find out where Barky was hiding. It made each morning a lot of fun and did help us remember to be on our best behavior! So fun and I highly recommend the tradition.
On Christmas Eve, Caleb blew Barky a kiss and told him goodbye and mournfully asked him to really try to come back to our house next year. I have a feeling he will make it back!
Check out our cute Reindeer! He was really into reindeer this year and really wanted a red nose to be Rudolf. No red nose but we did find these antlers and a special bell.
This year was sure an extra special Christmas with a 5 year old. The Christmas Magic was very real in our house!
We have an Elfy at our house. He is very loved! It's amazing how excited a little 2 year old gets about the Elf tradition. So fun!
